Mira Mesa High School Theatre Program

Join a Theatre Class 2012 - 2013!

Students still have the opportunity to enroll in a theatre class for the next school year! Classes include Beginning and Advanced Theatre, Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre, Playwriting & Directing, and ROP Arts Management. Theatre helps you in multiple aspects of life, including public speaking and literary analysis. It provides a safe location to make friends and work on projects you will be proud of. Whether you have an interest in being on stage or working behind-the-scenes, you'll enjoy one of the many classes we offer at Mira Mesa.

If you'd still like to enroll in a theatre class but did not mark it on your articulation sheet that you turned in to your counselor, make an appointment with your proper counselor and discuss it with Mr. Kriley in room 401.

Beginning Theatre (1-2)

Allow yourself to become acquainted with the theatrical arts! Begin your journey from student to actor and take your first steps onto the stage. This class teaches the basic points of theatre in engaging activities culminating in a 50-minute show at the end of the school year. The Beginning Theatre class works with and receives direction from both the drama teacher as well as the Playwriting and Directing students. Get more info »

Technical Theatre (1-4) &
ROP Arts Management

Technical Theatre offers a behind-the-scenes look at the plays and musicals that happen at Mira Mesa High School. With over half a dozen technical crews including set design, publicity, and costume design, there is a niche for everyone. Students of both Tech. Theatre and ROP Arts Management work in a team to develop the main stage and black box events. ROP Arts Management also offers a business aspect by teaching students the finer points of business in the arts. Get more info »

Playwriting & Directing

Students of this course will have the opportunity to develop an original play as well as direct a one act show for the annual Drama Festival at the end of the school year. By taking a leadership role, the playwrights- and directors-in-training produce a complete play with the Beginning Theatre class as their cast. Get more info »

Advanced Theatre (3-8)

Continue your studies in the upper theatre classes! With a broadened sense of the stage and more experience under the belt, students in the Advanced Theatre classes engage in a plethora of exciting events including the Grossmont Drama Festival and, most notably, the Fall play. Actors in the class work under the direction of the drama teacher, but are offered leadership opportunities as they arise. Get more info »

Musical Theatre (1-4)

The Musical Theatre Workshop class will help you tune your show tune skills with an abundance of performance opportunities.
