Musical Theatre 1-2
Students will explore the world of Musical Theatre by studying the musical theatre form, its history, and various styles while gaining experience in singing and reading music, character studies and performances, and choreographed dance. The class participates in field trips to several theatre and music performances and attends on-site performances and workshops by guest artists.

Musical Theatre 3-4
Students in this second year of musical theatre instruction are required to give individual and ensemble performances on a regular basis utilizing acting, singing, and/or dancing skills. The course also includes the study of audition techniques, musical theatre history, performance preparation and presentation, and show production.

Playwriting & Directing for Musical Theatre
Students in this course will choose to focus on either playwriting or directing. Student playwrights work independently to complete at least one original one-act musical during the two-semester course period. Student directors will acquire basic skills as an intern director for the Musical Theatre 1-4 class. Students will serve as class leaders and direct numbers for the Fall Gala and the end of the year Drama Festival.
