Drama Club Points
Every year, the Drama Club holds a banquet that celebrates the previous year of theatre. The dinner and award ceremony is held on-campus and honors students, parents, and other supporters who have showed excellence in the MMHS Drama community. All drama club members, however, have an opportunity to earn certain rewards based on their merit earned through specific activities endorsed by the Drama Club. The following is a list of activities that earns a Drama Club member (active or not) an amount of points. By annually keeping track of these points, one can earn enough points to be awarded a year-specific honor.
No prize is awarded in one's Freshman year. Sophomores can earn their Letterman jacket letter with 3,000 points. Juniors can earn a drama pin at 4,000 points. Seniors can earn a drama medallion at 5,000 points. A student can only receive one award per school year unless they are a senior who has not earned a previous award. Points will rollover through one's high school career.
If a student has transferred from another school, then they may redeem their activities from that school for full points at Mira Mesa High School instead of receiving the off-campus point allocation. For example, a student from XYZ High would receive 100 points for attending the XYZ's musical while the student was enrolled in that school. The same student would receive 1,200 points if they directed a full-length musical at XYZ school while enrolled there. Mira Mesa High School students would only receive 1/4 of the points had the event been at Mira Mesa High School. In the case of XYZ's musical, the Mira Mesa student would only receive 25 points for attending or 300 points for directing an off-campus musical.
To begin accruing points, report to room 401 and pick up a Point Tracking Sheet. Fill out the information necessary and begin recording your points. You must get the necessary signatures in the Sign Off section of the sheet and provide evidence as necessary to prove your merit. Questions regarding any drama activity omitted from this schedule or any other inconsistencies should be addressed with the Drama Adviser.
