If you missed the meeting on the 14th of September, here is your weekly update!

There will be no drama club meeting this Wednesday. There will be two minimum days this week, so make sure you make necessary arrangements to get home or have lunch! We will resume drama club on the 21st!

This week we had a theatre faire in the auditorium. We featured a total of five booths to inform you guys about the various functions of the drama club. Here is a brief rundown of each of the booths:

New York City Trip
Sarah Radcliffe acted as the liaison for this booth and helped people sign up for this trip. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to talk to Mr. Kriley about signing up and getting more info on the half-week trip to NYC this coming Spring Break. The trip features theatre workshops, stay at a luxurious hotel, and incredible seats for several Broadway shows, among other great opportunities. If you want to visit the concrete jungle where dreams are made of, make sure you talk to Mr. Kriley!

Theatre 1-2, Advanced Theatre, Musical Theatre
This booth was all about dates! Bobby Lopez and Whitney Hong gave us the details for the following events:
Broadway Gala - November 12th
Fall Play - December 1st & 2nd
Drama Festival - May 19th
Drama Banquet - June 1st

We've got plenty of stuff to do this year, including things not on this list! Be sure you check the Drama Calendar and keep updated!

Technical Theatre
Veronica Murray headed this one and told visitors about the various crews of tech. They're the guys and gals who control the lights, sound, costumes, props and more for each of our productions. Technical theatre is available as a class during Mr. Kriley's 6th period or as a focus in the 7th period Musical Theatre class.

Phantom of the Opera
Are you ready for the spring musical? You better get started because Lorina Alfaro gave everyone who visited her booth a dandy little envelope with audition dates!
Vocal Auditions - November 14th and 16th (you are only required to attend one of these auditions)
Dance Audition - November 15th
Callbacks - November 17th and 18th

If you've never had an audition at Mira Mesa High, be sure to talk to a veteran from last year. Here are some brief instructions so get you started:
  1. You must prepare an audition song. This means you must have the sheet music or a recorded accompaniment in the proper key.
  2. Whether or not you intend on being in the dance ensemble, you must attend the dance audition.
  3. The callback list will be posted on the 17th and you will have a day to prepare. If you are called back, it means the director(s) think you would be good for a certain role. You will perform a scene with another person who was called back and may be asked to sing a little. You will be informed of your role (if any) at the end of the callback process.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
We plugged the show once more with the table headed by the show's director, Justin Samoy. If you're interested in more info on the show, visit the Putnam page on this site or visit the drama room! You can either buy your tickets online or you can talk to Sarah Radcliffe about printing them out at school. :)
